The fastest time ever recorded at Lantz is a 5-mile mark of 23:31, run by Craig Virgin of the University of Illinois during the Illinois Intercollegiate Meet in 1975. Mike Larson ran a 24:21 in that race as well, for what is still the fastest time ever recorded at Lantz by a Panther. Five miles is a slightly longer distance than 8,000 meters (by 47 meters), and conversions are roughly 10 seconds.
